Bellringing.

The work on the church tower is now complete (except for the clock) and, as some of you may have heard, we had our first practice on 15/3. The bells and ropes seem fine after all the work that has been done around them - it's just the the ringers neede to wear hats on account of the dust and bits of stone/rubble coming down from the bell chamber (a spring clean is called for! ).
If anyone is interested in learning to ring the bells (or would like to look at the bell chamber ), please contact Andrew Gillard on 212851. Our practice sessions are normally on a thursday evening between 7.30 and 8pm.

Music for a Sunday Afternoon introduced by Ken Bruce.

Christmas Carol Service.

The Carol service held on Sunday 17th. December was a great success. Led by Norman Lilley there was a full church and a delightful nativity performed by the younger village children, with readings by older children and members of the congregation.

Childrens Nativity and Christmas Party.

"Oh Joseph, I am tired. I can't go any more.." "Oh Mary, don't give up.. Look over there, the stable door."
Classic lines from a great presentation by some talented children from Towersey at the Carol Service at St.Catherine's Church on Sunday 17th. December 2006. With a star studded cast ranging from the eldest Luke Nixey(9)"Chief Shepherd" to the youngest, Harry Riley(2)"King", the annual nativity was enjoyed by the full congregation. The 7 boys and 5 girls involved attended only 3 practices with Fliss Thompson and were hansomely rewarded with chocolates for their troubles!
All managed to remember their lines and make themselves heard right to the back of the packed church. For some it was their first production, some their first ever lines in a play(well done Elliot Horne) and for the others it was the latest show on their impressive CV! All the children looked very convincing in their fabulous costumes and sang "Away in a Manger" beautifully.

The Church Carol service was followed by a fun-packed party in the Towersey Memorial Hall for all the children in the village under 10. This celebration is free for the children and paid for by all the various Village Organisations. Around 20 enthusiastic, energy filled children were entertained by Paul the Magician, Comedian and Mad DJ. They were treated to a mind -boggling magic show folled by a sumpteous party tea and then danced it all off afterwards. A surprise visit by FATHER CHRISTMAS bearing presents for all finished off a very exciting day!
This year Carols by Candlelight in the church was well supported and again welcomed Chinnor Musical Theatre for an evening of carol singing on Tuesday 19th.December. The Chinnor Musical Theatre was in good voice and everyone joined in. Mulled wine and mince pies were available and created a festive atmosphere. Proceeds will be shared equally between CMT and St. Catherines Church.
