New Bus Service for Towersey.

Item for parish news. Major change to Towersey Bus Service from 3 June 2007 By John Wood, Assistant Public Transport Officer, Oxfordshire County Council.

Following a review of County Council supported bus services in the area undertaken during the latter part of 2006, new bus services will be introduced from Towersey Village from 3 June 2007. The current Arriva 231 bus will be withdrawn and replaced by a NEW Arriva Line 40 bus running generally every hour, every day (Mondays to Saturdays), to/from Thame, Towersey, Chinnor, Stokenchurch and High Wycombe. This new LINE 40 service will offer a number of new links for Towersey residents including a through bus to the new shopping centre at Wycombe now under development and to Wycombe General Hospital. It will continue to be operated by low floor wheelchair accessible buses as now, but brand new buses are on order for delivery later this year. It is a jointly supported route in partnership with Buckinghamshire County Council. Concessionary fare permits issued by South Oxfordshire District Council are accepted for free travel for any journey on Line 40 that starts in or finishes in Oxfordshire* including trips to/from Thame, Chinnor or High Wycombe. * -They would not however be currently valid for just a local journey anywhere on the section between Stokenchurch and High Wycombe, nor for journeys starting before 9am on Mondays to Fridays. It is hoped that Towersey residents will support this new service which gives a significantly better bus service with more travel opportunities than has been provided in recent years.
